Google Chrome 12 Available with Hardware Accelerated 3D CSS

Google Chrome 12 has been released as stable version after the Beta channel.  Chrome 12.0.742.91 includes several new features, bug fixes and performance improvements. Chrome 12 comes with enhanced Safe Browsing and support for Flash local shared objects control integration.

Chrome 12.0.742.91 includes a number of new features and updates, including:
~Hardware accelerated 3D CSS
~New Safe Browsing protection against downloading malicious files
~Ability to delete Flash cookies from inside Chrome
~Launch Apps by name from the Omnibox
~Integrated Sync into new settings pages
~Improved screen reader support
~New warning when hitting Command-Q on Mac
~Removal of Google Gears

According to Adrienne Walker, Software Engineer at Google, "Today’s new stable release of Chrome brings improvements in security, privacy, and graphics to Chrome’s 160 million users. Chrome is now more secure, thanks to enhancements to our Safe Browsing technology. In addition to protecting you from certain malware and phishing websites, Chrome now warns you before downloading some types of malicious files".

The latest release also adds hardware acceleration for CSS, speeding up animations and fancy website designs. With hardware-accelerated 3D CSS you’ll get a snazzier experience in some web pages and web apps that choose to implement 3D effects. Google Chrome 12 also drops support for Google Gears. Adobe Flash Player 10.3 added support for integrating content control policies from the browser, enabling users to clear locally stored data from the browser's settings page. Chrome 12 brings support for this feature.

Chrome also now gives you more control over the data that websites store on your computer. This includes Flash Player’s Local Shared Objects (LSOs), which were previously only manageable using an online settings application on Adobe’s website. Chrome has worked closely with Adobe to integrate Flash LSO deletion directly into Chrome, making it easier for you to manage your online privacy.

If you're using the latest Chrome 11, you'll get the automatic update to Chrome 12 soon. If you can't wait for the auto-update, you also can download it from Chrome Stable Channel here.
